EROTOTOX DECODINGS is a micro label dedicated to music, sounds, visual art, performance, online music and merchandise without holding it’s ground in any particular genre though the roster has more frequently been instrumental releases and dedicated specifically to sound experimentation from artists in a similar vein. We’d like to add that the owners of Erototox reserve the right to change the label’s direction void of any preconceived expectations at any given time. The label strives to remain above and beyond the scope of a conventional record label while still intending to keep the doors open to quality material from known and unknown entities and artists.
Originating in the San Francisco bay area and now operating now out of the forests and mountains of Western North Carolina’s bohemian enclave of Asheville, Erototox continues to function outside the vein of a traditional business model in that it is run and operated by the musicians. Taking the DIY approach free of competitive cliques and who’s who of the music world, Erototox has managed to stay afloat, releasing everything out of their own pocket and so far has maintained an online presence free of major distribution.
The name suggests a parodied identity of a business hybrid meeting somewhere between a petro-chemical “toxic” corporation and a sleazy pornographic “erotic” household operation. This namesake is left for only the intelligent listeners and subscribers to “decode” it’s actual intention and meaning.
